Shore Line Clean Up Initiative

Join the Vancouver Aquarium and WWF-Canada for the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup (GCSC) on September 18 to 26. This environmental initiative is for everyone who cares about the environment and wants to be a part of the solution. Presented by Loblaw Companies Limited, the GCSC engages thousands of Canadians annually to rehabilitate their local shorelines through the removal of shoreline litter.

You can volunteer to organize a cleanup as a Site Coordinator or help at an existing cleanup as a Cleanup Participant. For more information and to register, go to www.shorelinecleanup.ca

Adopt-A-Pond

On October 23rd, the Adopt-A-Pond wetland conservation programme of the Toronto Zoo will be hosting a workshop especially for field naturalists. This free workshop is an excellent opportunity for Nip Nat members and reflects the type of event that the Ontario Field Naturalist Club hope to see continue as part of their outreach programming.

The Adopt-A-Pond program also offers a variety of resources that can assist in wetland conservation and the identification of local reptile and amphibian species. The coordinators of Ontario Turtle Tally and Frogwatch Ontario manage a website that allows for citizen scientists to contribute their turtle and frog sightings, and they also offer outreach presentations to local naturalist clubs whose membership is interested in learning more about native herpetofauna and their threats. To learn more about our program and the resources we distribute please visit: http://www.torontozoo.com/adoptapond/
